Summary
Team USA completed a huge comeback to beat France 97-79 in the FIBA Women’s World Cup championship game and claim its fifth consecutive gold medal. They fell behind by 14 in the first half after France used a 16-0 run, but they responded before halftime. Angel Reese forced a turnover that led to a Caitlin Clark 3-pointer at the buzzer, cutting the deficit to 45-43. From there, Team USA took over. The Americans opened the second half on an 11-2 run and outscored France 30-12 in the third quarter to seize control. Breanna Stewart led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Jackie Young added 18 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Clark scored 12 points and Aliyah Boston added seven.
