In May 2025, according to her testimony, Flynn wrote that he’d kill Ashley in a heartbeat if it wouldn’t send him to hell. By June, he was asking Botner to hire someone. When she asked for a future together, he told her he’d never joked about it. By July, Botner was texting back — calling Ashley “douche” and writing that she “needs to go.” Flynn’s reply, per testimony: he’d have a smile on his face the whole time. Botner wrote back: “Praise God.” The texts document a full year of the same pattern: death wishes as proof of devotion, a woman conditioned to treat his crisis as hers, emotional collapse every time she pushed for answers, a 40-day spiritual fast that replaced every deadline, and jealous surveillance wrapped in sacrifice talk.
