Last summer Donald Trump, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. announced $500 gold Trump smartphones, promising they would be manufactured in the United States. Over 600,000 Trump supporters put down $100 non-refundable deposits, handing the Trump family nearly $60 million. The phones are not being made. Nobody is getting a refund. The disclaimer language buried in the fine print made clear the deposits formed no contractual obligation and did not guarantee the phones would ever be manufactured at all.
