One of them has now regained consciousness after falling into a hydrochloric acid tank. Taipower says, the incident took place yesterday morning, when a contractor and workers were doing maintenance on a hydrochloric acid tank used in the plant's seawater electrolysis process. One of the workers was reportedly transferring hydrochloric acid from the tank when he climbed to the top using a safety harness (安全帶) and protective cage. But Taipower says he fell into the tank after stepping through a metal covering. Local media said the tank's cover showed cracks before the worker fell through it. The company said that worker suffered burns and lost consciousness, while the other 10 people who helped with rescue operations reportedly felt unwell after possibly inhaling hydrochloric acid fumes.
