Summary
What does it mean to truly be part of God’s house? In "The House of God", Duane Sheriff traces the biblical picture of God’s dwelling place—from Jacob’s encounter at Bethel to the tabernacle, the temple, Jesus, and finally the Church—to reveal what God has always intended His house to be. At its heart, God’s house is built upon two enduring pillars: a deep love for truth and a commitment to prayer. When Jacob awakened at Bethel, he realized he had found the gate of heaven—a place where heaven and earth converged, angels ascended with the needs of earth, and returned with heaven’s resources. The stone he anointed pointed prophetically to Jesus, the chief cornerstone upon whom God builds His house. Today, believers are living stones being built together into a spiritual house. We are not meant to live as isolated Christians or consumers seeking comfort, but to gather in truth, prayer, worship, giving, and service. As the Church learns to open the right gates and close the gates of hell, God will prepare and restore His house for a coming harvest.
