Summary
Three cases today, and money runs through all of them. In Los Angeles, Nick Reiner — the thirty-two-year-old charged with stabbing his own parents to death, the filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele — has gone to court asking a judge to hand him more than a million and a half dollars from a trust fund, so he can pay for the lawyer he wants to defend him against the charge that he killed the people who set that trust up for him. Also back in the news from behind bars: Sean Combs, the rapper known as Diddy, hit this week with a brand-new lawsuit from a man who says Combs sexually assaulted him in 2007 when he was a working child actor — even as prosecutors in Los Angeles decide whether to charge Combs in a separate case. And in Miami, a father named George Pino goes on trial, accused of being drunk at the wheel of his boat when it crashed in Biscayne Bay and killed a teenage girl who was only there to celebrate his own daughter's birthday.
