Summary
On a fog-thick September night in 1987, Luna's uncle Elias saw a light where no light should be—out past Ragged Point, where the channel narrows and the current rips. He was fifteen, lying on the bluff with a girl named Margaret, when it rose from the water: green and steady, not a boat lamp, not a beacon. The next morning, the Coast Guard dragged the channel for a missing skiff. No bodies were found. But Elias never forgot the way the light seemed to look back. Thirty years later, he takes Luna to the same bluff, and together they watch the water.
