Summary
A West Clare animal sanctuary has been temporarily closed following an outbreak of Panleucopaenia, a highly contagious virus which has claimed the lives of a number of cats and kittens. An Cat Dubh Sanctuary in Miltown Malbay says it is taking strict measures to contain the disease, while urging cat owners to ensure their pets are vaccinated. Founder of the sanctuary Dr Rhona Lucas joined Alan Morrissey to talk about the impact of the outbreak, the challenges of managing it, and what happens next for the cats in her care.
