Summary
Evota Falls was built beside a river and a railroad, but the river is gone—and the town is dying with it. With the cattle thinning, the dust deepening, and hunger closing in, the few residents who remain are desperate for something—anything—that might keep their community alive. Then word begins to spread of the Curdler, a savage desert beast with a price on its head. Soon, armed hunters are arriving by train, eager to claim the bounty and make their names. But in Evota Falls, every solution creates a darker problem. As the town begins to prosper, its new mayor discovers that survival has demands of its own—and that the most dangerous thing in the desert may not be the creature everyone has come to kill.
