Orrin "Checkmate" Hudson Checkmate is a former Alabama State Trooper and U.S. Air Force Veteran that has become a master motivator, mentor, speaker, and founder of the non-profit organization Be Someone, Inc. Through chess, he teaches young people critical thinking skills, leadership, self-control, and nonviolent conflict resolution. His message is that "Brains Beat Bullets. Think it out; don't shoot it out. Make your next move your best move." His mission is to stop the acceleration of crime and violence. He talks about some of the lessons kids can learn from chess and how they apply to real life. His book "One Move at a Time: How to Play and Win at Chess and Life!" is a #1 Amazon best-seller.
