Summary
April 1998. A Greyhound bus breaks down outside a one-stoplight town called Orford, New Hampshire. Luna gets off to stretch her legs and meets a woman named Evelyn who is waiting for something that stopped running years ago. The road is empty. The sky is the color of a bad bruise. Evelyn's story comes out in fragments -- a husband who walked into the woods, a set of boots that appeared on the porch each morning, the way the geese stopped flying over the house. Luna listens, and then she sees the boots for herself. This episode is about the shape of grief when it refuses to end.
