Summary
Welcome back to our REWIND series! Christi and Kelly are going back through the archive, re-editing, and re-uploading our old episodes — in order, from the very beginning of Dance Moms. This week, they’re revisiting season 1, episode 6 (“Dying to Dance”), where the ALDC takes on one of its creepiest and most memorable early group dances: “Where Have All The Children Gone?” The routine was dark from the start: missing children, milk carton imagery, white costumes, a swing set, and choreography that left even the girls trying to figure out exactly what message they were supposed to be sending. Christi and Kelly look back on why the dance felt so heavy, how the moms reacted to the subject matter, and why the number still stands out as one of the most unforgettable group routines from the early seasons of Dance Moms. They also get into everything else happening around the episode: Christi’s 40th birthday Botox trip, the infamous birthday party gifts, Broadway Baby’s cameo, Christi getting emotional news about her grandmother, and Kelly’s blowup with Cathy after Brooke’s costume situation spirals right before she goes on stage.
