Summary
Wazzup Haoles!!! It’s ALOHA FRIDAY and I’m in Jah Mood for some… JAHWAIIAN Music. If you have never heard of JAHWAIIAN Music… It’s basically Hawaiian Reggae. The roots of the genre trace back to the arrival of reggae in Hawaii during the 1970s and early 1980s. Bob Marley's 1979 tour, which included a stop in Hawaii, helped spark local interest. Hawaiian listeners found a natural kinship with reggae — both cultures shared themes of island life, colonial history, indigenous pride, resistance, spirituality, and a laid-back tropical sensibility. The rhythms of reggae meshed well with the slack-key and steel guitar traditions already central to Hawaiian music. Vibes are Super High... Enjoy!
