Summary
Liverpool legend David Fairclough joins John Aldridge for Episode 30 of Aldo Meets , alongside James Pearce and Peter Schriewersmann. Known forever as Liverpool’s original “Super Sub”, Fairclough takes us back through an incredible journey from growing up close to Anfield and joining the club’s academy to becoming a key part of one of the greatest eras in Liverpool FC history. David relives the moment that cemented his place in Anfield folklore, coming off the bench against St Étienne in 1977 and scoring the dramatic goal that sent Liverpool through in the European Cup on one of the greatest European nights Anfield has ever witnessed. He also discusses life under the legendary Bob Paisley, competing with Kevin Keegan and John Toshack, European Cup glory at Wembley, his relationship with the “Super Sub” nickname and eventually saying goodbye to Liverpool after a trophy-filled career.
