Summary
Saint Agatha’s martyrdom became one of the most infamous stories in early Christian history. During Roman persecution under Emperor Decius, a young Christian woman from Sicily refused to renounce Christ despite humiliation, imprisonment, torture and death. This is the story of Saint Agatha, the Roman Empire, early Christian martyrdom and the terrifying realization Rome kept encountering again and again: some Christians loved Christ more than they feared suffering.
