In this episode, we’re talking about something we all experience but don’t often admit out loud—regret. For years, I loved the phrase, “No regrets.” But the older I get, the more I realize I do have regrets. And instead of avoiding them or feeling ashamed of them, I’m learning to let them teach me. I share a couple of personal stories that have changed the way I look at regret, including losing my dog Jake and losing a close friend much too young. We also dive into Daniel Pink’s research on over 26,000 regrets from people around the world, the four regrets almost everyone experiences, and a simple process for working through regret without getting stuck in it. My hope is that if you’re carrying an “if only,” you’ll leave this episode feeling less alone, a little lighter, and with a new way of looking at your past. Because maybe regret isn’t here to punish us. Maybe it’s here to remind us what matters most. This is a public episode.
