Mel is a lifetime member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society signifying his lifelong commitment to outstanding patient care, professionalism, leadership, scholarship, research, teaching, and community service. In 2024, Mel completed certification programs in Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare at both Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as a certification in Artificial Intelligence from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. Mel is currently enrolled in the Stanford Artificial Intelligence in Health care Certificate Program with the goal of becoming a world leader at the intersection of AI and Medicine. Mel is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a Fellow of Artificial Intelligence and Medicine (FAIM). In August 2024, he transitioned from being an Assistant Professor in the Division of Academic Internal Medicine at the University Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine to taking a position as President of the American College of Artificial Intelligence and Medicine.
