Welcome back to our series, Learning to See , where we are walking closely with Jesus through the Gospel of John, learning to see him as he reveals himself. We are using a favorite prayer method - Lectio Divina, a Latin phrase that translates as “Divine Reading” but simply means a close reading of a passage of scripture. Text I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me, just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. -John 10:11-15, NIV SoulWork Homework This week, sit with Jesus as your Good Shepherd. Think of a time when Jesus provided for you, protected you, guided you, or healed you. Write your own 4-line psalm of praise and gratitude for that time. Speak your praise out loud to the Lord.
