She honestly thinks that because she pays a tiny bit of rent she won't have to contribute to the household at all, and the entitled attitude she gives me every time I point out the overflowing trash can is just exhausting. And then the confrontation reached a boiling point today when I told her that if she won't stick to the deal, then she can't stay here for that price. She started crying about how I am being unfair and that she shouldn't have to work a job and do housework, but it felt like a necessary bit of ProRevenge when I handed her a list of local apartment listings that cost three times what she pays us. It was a huge wake-up call for her to see that the real world doesn't care about her excuses, and she finally realized that her free ride comes with actual responsibilities that she can't just ignore. It is honestly so frustrating when you try to give your kids a head start and they treat your kindness like an invitation to be lazy.
