Returning to L.A., where she once sold solar panels to fund her first apartment, she channels that grit into a record that bridges Black alternative music fans and her R&B roots. The album’s cathartic energy spills into her “New Avatar Live” tour, kicking off in L.A. with rave-inspired shows designed for collective release. Just three years after “Raven,” this is Kelela’s most confident, mature statement yet—boldly tackling emotional labor and boundaries with razor-sharp clarity.
