In this solo episode, Saadia walks through the exhibit that promised her the Civil War left America \"a different people in everything,\" and traces what she actually found: an economy built on unpaid labor, a grievance politics that outlived the war that produced it, and two glass cases of brass buttons that map almost perfectly onto the country we still argue about every election cycle.
