Body camera footage from a February 2024 welfare check showed Burke allegedly telling deputies he met Celeste once at the beach and that she told him she was eighteen. Prosecutors say she was thirteen and the relationship had been ongoing. Financial testimony established that Burke's music career generated more than ten million dollars during the years surrounding the alleged crime. His former finance director also testified about a switch to encrypted communications, discussions about moving money, and property title transfers — all occurring after the remains were found. The finance director remains on a monthly retainer working with Burke's family. The defense challenged the investigation's evidence handling and preservation at every turn.
