It’s Michael here - and welcome back to English Tips in a Minute from Happy English. I’m here every week with a short, simple tip to help you speak English more naturally and confidently. Today, let’s look at a really casual conversational use of the word “hit.” In everyday English, we use hit to mean go to or visit a place. It doesn’t mean you’re actually hitting something - it just means you’re going there, usually quickly or casually. For example, you might say: “I need to hit the restroom.” Or talking about your plans: “I’m gonna hit the gym after work.” You’ll also hear things like: “I need to hit the ATM” This use of hit is very informal, so it’s perfect for casual conversations with friends and family. So remember, when you want to talk about going somewhere in a casual way, try using “hit.” It’s short, natural, and very common in everyday English. Lemme know in the comments where you’re gonna “hit” today, and remember to follow or subscribe so you don’t miss the next Happy English Podcast and next week’s English Tips in a Minute. Hey, thanks for listening - and until next time, keep learning and keep it cool.
