It also does not mean tolerating manipulation, secrecy, abuse, or unhealthy behavior in the name of unity. But it does mean we cannot treat the Church like a collection of people we happen to see once a week. God has joined us to people we did not choose. And part of Christian maturity is learning to love them faithfully. The Church is not a crowd of customers receiving religious services. It is the household of God. And family cannot be outsourced.
