Our memories, knowledge, experiences, relationships, and beliefs all shape the lens through which we interpret what is happening around us. And when our context meets someone else’s, those perspectives can collide, overlap, distort, and create something entirely new. In this episode, Nicholas explores context through consciousness, the mind, evolution, and the stories we use to make sense of experience. Using the image of rain falling onto a lake, he imagines each of us as individual drops meeting the same field of consciousness—sending ripples outward until they inevitably meet the ripples of others. Perhaps what looks like chaos from where we’re standing isn’t meaningless. Perhaps we simply don’t have enough perspective yet to see the larger pattern.
