What happens when disrespect becomes normalized or a relationship no longer has enough room for both people to grow? This conversation is not an argument for abandoning people during difficult seasons. Friendship needs grace, patience, compassion, and room for human imperfection. But healthy relationships also need honesty, reciprocity, accountability, safety, relational ethics, and choice. You’ll be invited to consider the relationships in your own life from both sides: not only who has failed to show up for you, but also how you are asking other people to show up for you. Because relationship longevity does not always equal relationship health. History does not automatically entitle someone to permanent access. And loyalty can become a leash when history keeps us connected to relationships we would never choose today.
