This is Part 1 of a 2 Parter--in Part 1 we are going to begin with Charles Lindbergh Sr.-his youth and his father's youth as his father was an attorney/politician who was a U.S. Congressmen. We will discuss Charles traveling back and forth between his farm home in Little Falls, Minnesota to Washington D.C. We will discuss his college time, his love for aviation which leads him to becoming a 'Barnstormer' and finally to his entry into the U.S. Army where he trained and graduated first in his class for the Army Air Service Reserve Pilot program. At the time of the crime (1932) Charles was the most famous man in America and really the world because of his winning the award for flying solo Transatlantically from New York City to Paris, France in 1927. The award was posted by hotel magnate Raymond Orteig in 1919--many men had attempted this flight but many had failed so when Charles accomplished this flight in the 'Spriti of St. Louis' plane he instantly became famous and hounded by the press. We will further discuss Charles meeting Anne Morrow in 1927, her background, their marriage in 1929 and having Baby Charlie in 1930 upto the horrific events on the night of March 1, 1932, when they realize their precious baby boy was not in his nursery.
