He was born around 1205 in northern Italy, into a family influenced by heretical teachings. Yet from a young age, Peter was drawn to the truth of the Church. He eventually left behind the errors of his upbringing and entered the Order of Preachers, where he was formed in prayer, study, and preaching. As a Dominican, Peter dedicated himself to proclaiming the truth with clarity and conviction. He was sent to preach in regions troubled by heresy, especially the Albigensian movement, which denied key teachings of the faith. His preaching was direct and forceful, yet always aimed at conversion. He sought not merely to refute error, but to bring souls back to the fullness of truth. Peter’s zeal made him a powerful voice, but also a marked man. Those opposed to his mission saw him as a threat.
