The wheel of names spins with cruel, chaotic confidence, creating completely confounding clashes that we then attempt to critique with questionable credibility. It’s a traditional knockout competition, but make it cinematic carnage. In Part 1, sixteen contenders collide. Next week, the remaining sixteen complete the bracket, and the two survivors will clash for cultural supremacy. Will A Clockwork Orange commit its way to victory? Does Cool Runnings cruise past the competition? Is Chinatown truly the crown jewel of noir? Are there committed campaigners for Chicken Run ?
