At its core, Emotional Intelligence (EQ) shows up in two critical behaviors: Active Listening and Empathy. One gathers the signal.The other interprets it. What It Does * Captures facts, tone, and intent * Reduces misinterpretation * Signals respect and value Without active listening, you don’t have the full picture, just fragments. Empathy: Understanding What It Means Empathy is the ability to understand and acknowledge another person’s perspective and emotional experience. It does not mean agreement.It means an accurate understanding . Empathy asks: “What is this experience like for them?” It turns information into insight. What It Does * Builds trust * De-escalates tension * Strengthens connection Without empathy, information stays intellectual; it never becomes relational.
