How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender. I will not execute my burning anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim; for I am God and not a man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath. — Hosea 11:8-9 One of the greatest lies people believe is this: "God is done with me." Maybe because of failure, shame, repeated sin, exhaustion, compromise, or disappointment. At some point, many people quietly assume they have wandered too far, failed too much, or disappointed God beyond repair. But these verses say otherwise. "How can I give you up?" Feel the emotion in that statement. God is speaking to rebellious people who deserve judgment, yet His compassion wells up within Him. This is not a weakness in God. This is the heart of a holy Father whose mercy is deeper than we realize. He even adds: "My compassion grows warm and tender." There was a season in ministry when I felt completely crushed. I was exhausted, discouraged, and slowly losing passion for the very work I thought God had called me to do. But looking back, the issue was not the ministry itself. The issue was me. For years, I think I had done ministry mostly out of education, preparation, skill, ability, and talent—but not fully out of the deeper calling God actually designed for me. I was trying to fulfill purpose through my own strength instead of surrendering to His purpose. It felt so distant from God. And honestly, it nearly broke me. I had become a people-pleaser, pretending to be someone I was not.
