It’s a quiet night. Incubators hum like sleeping beasts. The air carries the faint metallic tang of chemicals. On a bench sits an ordinary glass flask filled with a murky, swirling soup. Inside that soup, something impossible is happening. Scientists have built a cell from scratch.
