Taking Jack's backpack, Dad looked surprise. "Whoa! What are you taking to school today, buddy? Rocks?" he joked. Jack laughed, but it sounded forced, even to him. The whole time he was thinking, Please don't open the backpack, please don't open the backpack.... What happens next?
