## Resource

NHL’s biggest contract battles are heating up as young stars hit the final year of their deals—teams are watching, waiting, and betting big. Will Smith in San Jose could be looking at a massive raise after 59 points last season; if he explodes again, the Sharks might shell out over $15M for him. In Columbus, Kirill Marchenko’s goal-scoring spree could make him a hot commodity, with the Blue Jackets holding firm unless a trade makes them better. Matvei Michkov in Philly, despite past turbulence, is primed for redemption under a new coach—and could become a point-a-game force. And Luke Evangelista, newly traded to New Jersey, has a golden chance to boost his stats and land a lucrative new deal with a team hungry for offense.
