## Resource

Macklin Celebrini just shattered NHL history with a record-breaking 94-million-dollar, five-year deal with the San Jose Sharks — averaging $18.8 million annually — cementing his status as the highest-paid rookie ever. His stellar play, including Olympic gold and franchise records, made him a generational talent. Now, the Sharks are turning their attention to teammate Will Smith, whose contract is less certain but increasingly valuable. Comparing him to recent high earners like Jason Robertson ($7.75M avg) and Lucas Raymond ($8.075M avg), plus Trevor Zegras’s $5.75M deal, suggests Smith could land a sweet spot around $10.5M over five years — rewarding his growth while keeping the Sharks’ cap flexible for other young stars.
