## Resource

The USHL is set to expand westward with six new teams in California and Arizona by 2027-28, a move championed by LA Kings president Luc Robitaille who sees it as the next big step in hockey’s growth on the West Coast. Building on decades of grassroots development since Gretzky’s arrival, this expansion aims to give local players easier access to elite junior hockey, reducing travel burdens for families and creating pathways straight to Division 1 and the pros. Robitaille, even advising on franchise branding, envisions NCAA hockey as the next frontier — possibly within six to seven years — fueled by strong regional fan support. Meanwhile, Quebec Remparts bolster their draft stock with two BU-bound prospects, and the OHL rolls out new fighting rules to tighten discipline across the league.
