## Resource

Ottawa Senators eye a big contract extension for star forward Drake Batherson, potentially mirroring Adrian Kempe’s eight-year, $10.625M deal, as scoring remains critical to their playoff push. Meanwhile, Carolina Hurricanes continue negotiations with rookie Alexander Nikishin, who dazzled with 11 goals and 33 points in his debut season — including a Cup win — though his market value may climb beyond projected $7M. And looming on the horizon: the NHL is seriously considering expansion into Texas, with Houston and Austin in the mix, possibly launching a new franchise by 2031.
