## Resource

Zach Werenski reigns supreme as the NHL’s top defenseman in the Metro Division, logging nearly 27 minutes a night and outskating forwards — but his team crumbles without him. Meanwhile, 18-year-old phenom Matthew Schaefer just became the first unanimous Calder winner in 30 years, tying rookie defenseman records and turning the Islanders’ season around. And veteran Erik Karlsson? Still crushing it at age 35, leading the Penguins’ power play and nearing elite historical milestones. With Werenski’s dominance under threat from rising stars and aging legends still delivering, the blue line battle is heating up — and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
