## Resource

Detroit’s hold-up on signing restricted free agent defenseman Simon Edvinsson—still waiting for a GM amid training camp nears—is pushing up his contract price, as rival teams set new benchmarks with young defensemen like Zeev Buium, who just inked an eight-year, $9.38M deal. At just 23 and already a top-six player, Edvinsson’s value is soaring, and with the new CBA slashing max contract length to seven years starting Sept. 16, Detroit must act fast—or pay the steep cost of delay.
