## Resource

Dawson Mercer’s future with the Devils is heating up as training camp begins — and he’s got big shoes to fill. After a breakout season where he hit 20 goals for the third time and set a franchise record for consecutive games played, Mercer’s role could be pivotal. The team might stick him with Meier and Hischier on the top line — a trio that dominated possession last year — or unleash his scoring on the third line alongside Gritsyuk and Glass. While trade rumors swirl, his durability and two-way value make a move unlikely. With his contract expiring, this season is his chance to prove he deserves an extension — and the pressure’s on.
