## Resource

Macklin Celebrini, the 20-year-old hockey phenom, just signed a five-year, $18.8 million cap hit extension with the San Jose Sharks — the highest annual average in NHL history. Coming off a record-setting season with 115 points, Celebrini could have demanded even more but chose a team-friendly deal to give the Sharks vital financial flexibility. This smart move locks in their franchise cornerstone while leaving room to build a contender around him, including extending Will Smith and signing Collin Graf. Though it’s not a longer-term deal, it perfectly aligns with San Jose’s window to compete — and Celebrini gets paid like the generational talent he is.
