## Resource

Joey Porter Jr. is on the verge of returning to the Steelers’ field after a sidelined start, with coaches praising his ramp-up progress and hinting at a potential Week 2 debut. While his physical recovery is moving forward, contract negotiations remain stalled — a business matter the coaching staff says they’re not involved in. The defense held strong without him in the opener, shutting down Atlanta’s backup QB, but the real test comes next against rookie phenom Drake Maye. With training camp missed, Porter Jr. is catching up fast — and the Steelers are banking on him being back soon to bolster their secondary.
