## Resource

Newark just launched five new community grocery stores—one in every ward—stocked with fresh food, dairy, meat, dry goods, and household items, all without membership or minimum purchase requirements. SNAP and WIC benefits will soon be available at all locations. Originally created as emergency food hubs during last winter’s government shutdown, the program is now permanent thanks to Mayor Baraka’s vision. With over 183,000 residents living in food deserts—four of the worst in the state—this initiative directly tackles food access. Local organizations like St. James Social Service and La Casa de Don Pedro run each store, while the Office of Sustainability oversees operations. It’s a powerful step toward healthier, more resilient neighborhoods for everyone. Listen in comfort: Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
