## Resource

Rain turned a half marathon in Paramus into a dangerous ordeal as runners waded through waist-deep, fast-moving floodwaters—some even grabbing rails to avoid being swept away. Hidden hazards like potholes and debris added to the peril, prompting safety concerns and some runners abandoning the race. Organizers faced backlash for failing to cancel or reroute despite early warnings, leaving many frustrated. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt—but the event serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly nature can upend even the most planned events.
