## Resource

Clarke Schmidt makes his triumphant return to the mound after 14.5 months off due to Tommy John surgery, pitching two-thirds of an inning against the Twins and striking out two while keeping the ball in play. Though he admitted nerves and even thought he was coming in earlier, Schmidt embraced the moment, calling it a long, emotional journey capped by adrenaline and gratitude. He’s traded his once-effective “sweeper” pitch for his slider and cutter, acknowledging the change as part of healing. Despite the loss, his sharp stuff and mental toughness signal a major boost for the Yankees’ bullpen — a story of resilience that didn’t get lost in the shuffle.
