## Resource

The Cubs just made a bold move, DFAing Jameson Taillon despite his $18M remaining salary — a clear signal they’re prioritizing performance over payroll. Taillon’s 2024 season has been a disaster, posting a brutal 5.92 ERA across 15 starts, forcing the Cubs to act. Once a reliable arm for the Yankees and a postseason contributor, Taillon signed a $68M deal with Chicago after strong seasons in 2024-25 — but even that couldn’t save him from the chopping block. This move underscores a tough reality: if the numbers don’t match the contract, the roster gets reshuffled — no matter how big the check.
