## Resource

Rangers’ 18-year-old defenseman Alberts Smits made a big splash at practice, skating with the top-six defense unit and impressing coach Mike Sullivan with his crisp play. While a roster spot isn’t guaranteed, the team’s giving him a real shot — with Matthew Robertson and Urho Vaakanainen ready as backups. Meanwhile, NHL camps buzz with drama: Hurricanes’ Seth Jarvis returns from injury, Jets grapple with Hellebuyck’s trade request, Devils deal with key injuries, Ovechkin’s energized for his 22nd season, Sharks lock in Warsofsky, Senators bring in veteran Ben Hutton, and Gadjovich remains sidelined for Panthers.
