## Resource

The Rangers snagged a solid defensive project in EJ Emery, a 6’3”, 185-pound defenseman from South Dakota with a high floor and serious upside. Though his offense isn’t flashy—13 points in 38 games last season—he’s a shutdown guy with a plus-17 rating and elite size for disrupting opponents. Scouts debate whether he’ll become a reliable bottom-pairer or climb to top-four status, but either way, his penalty-killing chops and defensive reliability make him a smart late-first-round pick. At just 20, there’s room for growth—and the Rangers will likely give him the time and space to develop without rushing him into a role he’s not ready for.
