## Resource

The Mets are eyeing Jared Young as their future first baseman, a reliable DH who crushes right-handed pitching and plays solid defense — leaving Mark Vientos in a tough spot. Vientos’ bat still flashes, especially vs. lefties, but his defensive lapses at first base — including a costly error against the Giants — and subpar defensive metrics make him a risky fit. With no room to send him down, his September reps may be his final audition for next season — all while he just wants to keep playing and enjoying the game with his teammates.
