## Resource

The Mets took a brutal loss to the Giants, surrendering nine runs — including six homers — with Zac Thornton taking the fall, though A.J. Ewing finally cracked his first home run since July, hinting at a breakout. As 2026 looks like a lost season, the Mets are already eyeing 2027 and evaluating talent in September. Jonah Tong is set to start tomorrow’s game against the Marlins. The team’s struggles have placed them alongside the Mariners and Tigers as this year’s biggest disappointments. Meanwhile, Juan Soto earned his third LatinoMVP award, and Mrs. Met was honored in the Mascot Hall of Fame — while fans mourned the passing of former GM Joe McDonald. Elsewhere, Zack Wheeler shined for the Phillies, the Nationals narrowly lost without Ohtani, the Marlins dropped a close one to the Cubs and let go of veteran Leo Jimenez.
